I just got invited to join this facebook group, Best Sites to Watch TV and Movies online for free. I joined of course, always fun reading what other people are saying. But Graboid really is playing in a different league than the 100 sites listed in that group. Why the heck would you surf 20 different sites to find something you want to watch when you know you can get pretty much all of it here?

Why? Mac/Linux/BeOS/BSD compatibility, and no “Gold” account required for unlimited usage, could be two reasons.
Naturally, Graboid may well offer a faster and more reliable service than any or all of the listed sites, however having alternatives and not having to 100% rely on one company is always a good thing.
What’s wrong with being reliant on one company? Mac users don’t seem to have a problem with it.
And as far as reliability goes, Graboid is way better than any of the other sites. You might try out one link that works at first, but by the time you get around to watching it, you’re sitting with your bowl of popcorn staring at a “page not found” message.
That scenario is far less likely to happen with Graboid. Also, we’re continually working on ways to improve the reliability of the content (the other sites just sit back, let their auto-leeching scripts run, and collect ad revenue).
Lastly, we are working towards a cross-platform compatible version of Graboid. Stay tuned — we are getting closer to this goal!

On my search for a better way to watch and download movies I have seen that site. I like the Graboid “no hassle” site sooo much better. Thank you.
When can we expect the latest version of graboid to be available?
Even though I am experienceing some issues with Graboid , I must say that through my surfing I have yet to come across anything like Graboid, its easy to use the choices of movies and tv shows are outstanding , the quality is superb ,yes it has its moments But I AM Hooked!! Keep up the great work
Graboid is very cool but a few small issues are at hand here…2 movies (the same ones) said they were in english and turned out to be in french:( …another movie had a virus that vista did not like..used up 4 1/2 gb’s. 2 movies I downloaded took twice the bandwidth they were supposed too, and another was a bootleg crap version using again alot of bandwidth.
I was very excited about Graboid for the simple fact that it was easy and the choice of movies was awesome.I actually bought more bandwidth early I was having so much fun with Graboid, but I am not sure I will buy anymore until a few issues are cleared up. Don’t get me wrong I really appreciate the work you all put into making this work, but for paying customers there should be a refund for bad downloads, especially the language screw ups, and double bandwidth downloads, i can understand my windows box not liking a infected file, Vista is a bit weird to me anyway, and seems very touchy. Hey Jenny, if you discovered a file that vista said had a virus, it’s best to give the name of the file you downloaded so that it can be looked into.
But chances are it was not a virus, but instead vista just freaking out over a legitimate file that it believes to be suspicious.
And as for graboid charging you for double the bandwidth, it is possible that this is user error. I have unlimited usage, but a couple of times I have clicked to download a movie and it does not show in the download que so I click it again and it starts downloading. But then when I go into my archiver I see that two seperate versions of the same movie were downloaded. So in the future to fix this you can try going to /graboid/tools/nntp/archiver/graboid temp. And then try clearing out the folders in there before trying to click the download button again, and that should keep it from downloading twice.

I woud visit the competing sites for the same reason I’d visit any other thing I was not familiar with, curiousity. Also maybe the other sites would have all of the information on a show in the same place, which would be convenient. I wish my friend had told me about graboid earlier!
One thing, Paul, you mentioned TV. I wonder if it will ever be possible to use graboid in connection with a television, maybe with a media server interface? I understand tivo is doing that in conjunction with several media websites or services such as the Amazon service which allows one to download movies, and others, but only with their own tivo boxes.
I have my laptop connected to my 35″ tv with an s-video cable and it works great!

I’ve been sending my Graboid media to my TV via an old Buffalo Linktheater at 1080i. These have been selling lately for less than $100.
Well worth it , IMO.
