Well, we’ve just experienced 1000 beta signups in under 24 hours. Whew! Amidst reports that Graboid is a sting operation headed up by the MPAA, the signups just keep rolling in, and our wait list is growing by the minute.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to sign up — and no, we are certainly not a sting operation. We’re trying to keep things somewhat under wraps because our public launch isn’t occurring for a little while yet, and besides, isn’t it fun guessing? We threw the site together in an afternoon, but hopefully you’ve gotten a taste of the content and an idea of the service we’ll be rolling out in the coming months. You’ll be seeing what Graboid is all about, complete with a proper site, very soon.

We’re very excited about what we’re working on, and here’s what we can tell you:

  • All of the content in our database will be available.
  • You’ll be able to stream that content within seconds, and we’ve got a working alpha service. We’re working out the kinks, and our beta launch will occur in early June.
  • We’re not peer-to-peer.
  • We’re much faster than BitTorrent, and have much more content than Joost.
  • Graboid is so easy to use that your grandmother will be streaming The Price Is Right.
  • We’re not headed up by the MPAA or the RIAA to collect e-mail addresses of naughty downloaders. Besides, they seem to be able to get that information directly from your ISPs!

Over the coming weeks, you’ll find updates here on the blog that are going to answer some of your questions, or maybe raise a few new ones — but we can assure you right now that we’re for real, and you’re in for one hell of a fun ride.

A very big thank you goes out to those of you who signed up for our beta, and please join our waiting list if you weren’t one of the lucky few. We’ll have you up and running using Graboid before you know it.
