If you’re trying to get an answer on a specific Graboid problem or feature, don’t expect to post on the blog and necessarily get a moderator response with an answer. Since we monitor the blog regularly, we’ll sometimes post an answer to a simple question, but in general, that’s what customer support is for.
If you’re a user and you see someone post a question and you have an answer, by all means, help us out and post a reply.

graboid help what the hell is going on last week i posted acouple of posts that when it downloaded it stopped at 99 %and stoped thena day or 2 later my downloads were coming down and finishing brillant .then when i come to download smallville today it wont let me download or stream i tried other ways unistalling speedtest tried it on my other account on my laptop tried on my pc nothink works what the hell is going on im sick and tired ill be asking for my money bk coz the problems come and go come and go i cant take no more sort it out graboid
I think the problem is support emails do not always get answered. I posted a question over 2 weeks ago and never got a response. When I do get responses, they often take more than 2 days. The moderator seems to be the only person responding in a timely fashion.
i agree with kevin… i actually got a response from graboid support that my email was received…then i received a system notification that it wasn’t… so i dont know if i will get help or not. but movies and shows are still not downloading for me…and i deleted that temp file the moderator told me to….

well one thing is for sure this is the best thing out yet but it’s not working in a proper matter i mean grober keeps freezing i had the free version than i upgraded to the silver i was thinking about going platinum but idk now is ya’ll grober not responding i mean it could be just me i mean i probably have something on my computer that is conflicting with it but it keeps telling me Grober NOT RESPONDING i would say i downloaded lke 5 movies and now i don’t even know if it’s downloading whenever i press downloads it like hell **** freezes up

Morpheus , kazza , strong dc , dc++ ,Odc , Bitlord ….etc they are fast for small files but for movies forget it it will take u up to a day maybe 2 to download a 700MB movie 2 DAYS max speed will probably hit THE MID 200Kb/s if you are lucky and it’s not going to Download at that speed for long only about 2 3 min max so compare 200kb to 1mb u can’t and it’s faster than that about 1500kb/s on average so so don’t look anymore trust me u won’t find anything I LOOKED EVERYWHERE FREE OR NOT THIS IS THE BEST YET i looked around and i tried over 100 programs and nothing came close to it actually one did i don’t remember what it was
but it used the same strategy DIRECT IP that’s what makes it faster

I do wish you would stop calling it Graber, it is Graboid. It is no doubt your end, can’t understand why one would have 3 firewalls running. You certainly will have issues running any application which requires the internet. Yes, sometimees when you go to download a movie, it doesn’t show up in the downloads list, but if you simply close the pragram, and log back in, you’ll then see it.

I have a question for the guys at grabiod: How many files are you guys up to? What’s the average amount of files being added to your database on a daily basis? I’m guessing around 400 or so per day. Couldn’t guess on the entire content.

As we state publicly, we think there are about 75,000 individual files on these servers at any given time. The overall number doesn't rise/fall much because older files get deleted at the same rate that new ones are added.]
CAN’T SEEM TO DOWNLOAD TODAY. I FLAG STUFF AND CLICK DOWNLOAD AND NOTHING WILL DOWNLOAD. ALSO, COULD YOU MAKE AVAILABLE THE FILE TYPES ETC.? I NOTICED SOME OF THE MOVIES ARE RECORDED RIGHT OFF OF TCM…IS THAT LEGAL? I LOVE THE WEBSITE AND SERVICE BUT IT IS VERY FRUSTRATING.

In the FAQ it says that when a file stops randomly and reverts to just the video player control panel it has to do with my bandwidth. I have over 10 mbps i REEAAlly don’t think it’s my bandwidth. It used to work just fine but now it’s got major issues. This site has SOOOo much potential, it’s extremely frustrating to not be able to finish a movie. Is it too much to ask to be kept in the loop better regarding updates? And is there an ETA on when to expect a less problematic version?
[moderator: Less problematic version will be a Christmas present at the current rate. No promises. Your video breakage may be due to a specific issue with files that are 1-2 GB in length, which is that they're originally from 2 CDs. At the midpoint of the movie the files switch and it takes Graboid about 30-40 sec to reload. The viewer will go to just the control menu. But after 40 seconds, the movie will start again.
You know this is getting old, really OLD….. I can’t seem to get ANYTHING to play from start to end. Just about every video I stream stops within the first few minutes and many don’t start at all. I know it is not a bandwidth issue on my behalf I want to give them my $25, but they can’t seem to fix the problems to make the program work.
[moderator: without looking at your log files, there's no way to know what your specific bug is, which is why you have to contact support for anything but the broadest issues. All we can say is that is works for 98% of the folks out there.]
I tried Graboid today after reading glowing reports about it. Thankfully I tested the “free” sign-up first. I was very unhappy with the super slow download speeds. The quality of one movie I tried was terrible. The choices on the “free” sign up portion was fairly limited, especially for TV programs. The TV quality was great. I can find faster download speeds on other sites and more choices. Overall I wasn’t pleased at all (mainly because of the download speeds–I like my programs and movies quickly–I don’t like waiting for extended download times). I deleted Graboid and will stick to what I am already using.
[moderator: Check speedtest.net and confirm your bandwidth speed. It's unbelievable the number of people who think they have high speed access (because their carrier says so), but are actually operating at 1 Mbps or lower (translates to 125 kBps the way Graboid displays download speed). Yes, sometimes video quality is low - we're not responsible for the content.
And regarding the volume of 'free' TV content - do you mean that there were only 10,000 files available to download? :0
my new issue is due to an unexpected error on my other computer and having to lose this computer this week, i had no choice but to switch to linux on my pc so therefore i have to cancel graboid that i have come to love very much because you don’t support it yet. when are you going to support linux? i gladly pay for unlimited every month but now im going to miss everything for who knows how long. please please tell me when to expect linux support.

I can’t get into my Graboid application at all now. I get an error message something like-”XML parser error 9: junk after document element. Exception Error Number: 2.”
I even get error messages when I try send emails to support@graboid so this is my only chance for help. Really appreciate any advice.
I’m having the same probem as Dylan. I can’t log in at all, and my emails are being returned with error messages.
^ ya i had the same issue earlier. Just wait it out and if eventually will fix itself. Try even re-starting ur computer and making sure that graboid is not running on the command function. End the process and start it over again. This really is a great program. Yeah its got a couple kinks in the system but hey thats what newer versions are for right? oh yeah, moderator, is there any way that movies that are recorded in the theatre can be flagged a certain way cause it sucks waiting for the download only to find out thats its a video of some dude who cant hold a camera still haha. I know that there is the thumbs up thing but i always thought that was just for whether the file was complete or not…just curious. thanks again!
So are you guys going to explain what that whole server issue was about? Should we expect this? And i’d like to see a poll stating whether people have issues with streaming videos (constant stoppages, and then video would continue fine as normal because i get that too)…. that might prove if this is either an isolated incident or something on graboid’s end.

Tomorrow, we are doubling our database server capacity to support twice as many concurrent connections, and we've solved the drive space issue, so (we hope) this will drastically, if not eliminate downtime. well i think the search … could b much better .. I dont know if u ever went to demonoid.com …
but i think u should b able to pick the language of what ur looking for … theres only like 6 languages of i see most of the time … cattegory….. maybe a year catertory like 07 then 04-06 etc ….
everyone i know has the streaming issue. graboid lists our speeds at 500kbps or better. I am a platinum member till the end of the month. someday this may be worth paying for, but as of now we are all beta testers. I have tried other programs and it is true in theory that this program has the widest streaming selection but there are too many cam rips(with thumbs up), incomplete movies, moves in the wrong language, and files full of errors. I am very disappointed. my money would have given me more value as toilet paper.
this is not how you run a buisness folks. perhaps you folks should spend some of that wasted cash on finding out how netflix can do perfect streaming movies without any waiting.

Have found Graboid support to be excellent.
To switch subjects, in todays market where required “bandwidth” is uneconomical, I wonder where this type of service is going? where will it end up? $40./mth useful bandwidth (not how Graboid uses the word “bandwidth”) + Graboid’s $12-25.oo/mth fee buys/rents MANY DVDs. And all are, in Comcast’s words: “on demand”. (I am not a FiOS or cable subscriber - does NOT make sense.)
I just wanted clarification on something: after I use up my alloted brandwidth for the month (i’m on a free account), do I start over at the beginning of the next calendar month, or one month after I joined?

I want to help many who are having movie shut down issues. I know this seems to be a common problem, with movies literally shutting down right in the middle, with the media player showing up empty. Let me shed some light on the problem. I had my computer settings such that the moniter would turn off its display after 30 minutes or so, and had it falling to sleep at the same time. I had no idea this was the problem, but when turned those features off, the movies ran all the way through without any issues at all. Seems the computer doesn’t actually fall to sleep, nor does the screen turn off, but if it did, I would have realized this to be my problem much sooner. Because there is in fact an application (graboid) running in the background, the computer behaves in an odd way. I believe the computer attempts to fall asleep, but is unable because of the movie application running. As a result, there is no way one can discern what the problem is, and why the movies keep shutting down. Then I thought to myself, why have I been able to watch other movies all the way through? Well obviously I was fussing with the mouse and minimizing and running other things in the background, keeping the sleeping mechanism at bay.
I do hope this helps, but we all must understand this media player is very touchy, and the slightest things which we may never think of can interfere.

Videos are downloading for me at the rate of anywhere between 4 - 20 kb/s, and all downloads seemingly take forever. Is this a problem with my internet connection, or is it something on your end? Do you know if there’s anything I can do about this problem?
[moderator: go to http://www.speedtest.net and see what your downstream speed is. If all you're getting is 20 kBps (bytes per second) on Graboid, then the rate speedtest gives you should be about 150 kbps (bits per second). That's about dialup modem speed. High speed internet will come in somewhere above 1 Mbps on speedtest. If you're somehow getting a speedtest result that's high > 1 Mbps and Graboid is still going slow, then there are probably other internet-accessing apps running on your PC at the same time.]
How can I gain bandwidth? It says I have no more? Does that mean that I cant watch videos with graboid anymore?

ok as with my earlier messages i decided to try graboid again first off 2 days ago i downloaded a file at 260mb it came down at 5650kbps witch is good for my connection anyway it got to 33mb with about 2 minutes remaining and stoped left it for half hour and still not downloaded ..so then i tried it again today i downloaded a file of 185 mb it came down really quick about 4 minutes untill it stoped at 99per cent done with only 1mb left if thats not taking the pi@@ what is graboid im getting peed off help
I have been reading a lot of the blogs in here and used it all ready, I have found nothing wrong at all, my downloads go at 185-195 at any giving time, I find that quit fast enough. If you can download a 700-800 mb file in 2-2 1/2 hours while doing other things on the pc, well to me thats pretty good, as for the downloads that stop at 99% for some of the people in here, I can’t say much on that, mine have never stopped- all goes well each time.
I have been working with computers now for over 20 years and have tired just about every kind of p2p programs for movies,video’s and software, while not at the top of my list, graboid does come close, Keep up the good work guys.
