There are a few people who’ve experienced a problem with downloading/buffering after downloading update version 0.96. We’ve testing upgrading internally with no issues, so we’re trying to figure out what is causing the problem for those users.
If you’ve experienced a problem with the update, first try closing Graboid, waiting 5 minutes and restarting it. This should reset any existing connections to the service, which should then clear up any connection issues. But if the problems persist, please e-mail us here and include your Graboid log files. You can find these log files in your download directory, in a folder called “Graboid Temp”. The files are called “graboid-debug.log” and “graboid-simple.log”. In case you don’t know where your download directory is, you can find out in the Graboid application under “File -> Preferences”.
If you are experiencing any of these problems and want to revert back to the previous version, you can download it here.
There is no problem with the Graboid Video service in general - all servers are up and running.

Thank you for getting on this. I was afraid the Graboid team might be taking the weekend off to ski or somesuch. I certainly can wait ’til Monday but I’ll bet many can’t or at least don’t want to! FYI, I’m getting an brand new error message when I boot up my computer that a connection cannot be made with c:\WINDOWS\system32/cmd.exe’. I’m an aging luddite and very timid with the cyberworld, so I don’t know if this has anything to do with anything, but I mention it nonetheless. It just started happening, and when I do a search, I find an incomplete URL of c:\WINDOWS/system32 only. Thanks again. And if any out there are gearing up to throw a tantrum, take it from an old fartlette…..life has many much more dangerous and painful curve balls to throw than a slight delay in watching re-runs! And we are Beta, and can cancel and wait until all the kinks are ironed out if we’re not happy. Best wishes to all! Yay Graboid!
since Ive downloaded the update,,,I have no playback buffering, and get an error when trying to download.
I have not changed anything and the system is not downloading. The system says the movie was added to the queue, only to never start or show up in the download folder.
Once I download a movie and it says it is in my queue, I check and it’s not there. So I have to disconnect from the website than go right back to the website, once I do that the movie begans to start downloading. Only than I am able to download a movie successfully. Other than that I am having no problems with the knew version.
In one of the comments, someone asked that we (the users) use the thumbs up/down more often on downloads that work/don’t work. At one time I would have agreed with this, but I’ve changed my opinion mainly because I have had problems trusting the thumbs up/down. I have d/led things that had a thumbs down and they worked fine (sometimes you just have to change the file type when renaming it). I have also d/led things that had a thumbs up and they didn’t work. Lastly I have d/led files that didn’t have either thumbs up or down and the download was corrupt so I redownloaded THE SAME FILE and it worked the second time.
thanks for giving the option of the older version, everything works fine now,,,should’nt fix whats not broken.

I’m having the same exact problem today. I’m gonna try going back to the previous version.
OK, so I reverted back to the previous version. Now it adds my selections to the que folder but they never start downloading. It’s been almost an hour now and the timer in the upper right corner of the screen just keeps spinning.
Uninstal old version first then instal the new version.
Have uninstalled update, reinstalled original (from this website.) Problems persist.
To the people that are having problems after an upgrade to the new version — are you using Windows Vista or Windows XP?
I downloaded the new version 9.6 and the system is not downloading. The system says the movie was added to the queue, only to never start or show up in the download folder.
I reverted back to the old version, and Voila! no problems…thank you Graboid. Back to movie watching…
Ryan, I am using Vista Premium home version
The update did not work. I uninstalled and went back to .9.5. I thought it was working until it got to about 96% on buffering…then it stops. So I thought I would try to download….nothing downloads. So I went back, uninstalled everything to do with Graboid…deleted every folder that had to do with Graboid, check my registry for anything to do with Graboid and then reinstalled .9.5. Buffering still stops at about 96% on everything and nothing will download…it ques for the download but sits at 0%. I went to my friends and downloaded Graboid .9.6, it worked fine. I then downgraded his computer (that I built for him) and .9.5 worked fine. The computers are the exact same (mine and his) I built them both. This problem is beyond me and I have been building and fixing computers for more than 10 years…This problem has to somehow be some variable that the .9.6 version of Graboid is changing…and it is not doing it on everyones PC…only some… So….if you are having problems…don’t even attempt to fix it unless you are a programmer with the source for Graboid….for everyone one else….it sux to say…but we are just going to have to wait and hope Graboid figures it out soon.
I’m using XP Pro and like Ken says, I’m no programmer so I guess I’ll just have to wait.
Has anyone tried to do a DISK CLEANUP and then a DISK DEFRAGMENTER
Where to find:
Click START, Click ALL PROGRAMS, Click ACCESSORIES, Click SYSTEM TOOLS
Sometimes just RESTART your computer might work.
Try this before doing a UNINSTALL and REINSTALL of Graboid.
This has helped me out. Just thought I pass it along.
Graboid is still awesome….. keep pushing forward………..your doing great.
OK I installed update and nothing would play. I am running Vista home premium. After they posted it I reistalled 9.5. everything is working fine now. Thanx
I had the same problem with playback and downloads only queing but not downloading. I shutdown graboid went to C:\Program Files\Graboid\tools\nntp\archiver and deleted the “Graboid Temp” direcctory, left it a couple mins and restarted Graboid. Hey presto, everything worked again. It worked for me so it might work for a few of you to. gl
I had the same problem with downloads/streaming not starting. I uninstalled 9.6.0 and reinstalled 9.5.0 and downloads started working again.
Well, it got me today, uninstalled 9.6 installed 9.5 and no luck, restarted, ran disk defrag, and disck clean up, no help. Guess i will have to wait till someone with more experiance than me figures out the problem. Great program and cant wait till I can get it to work again.
When I installed the new version and nothing would play or download either, and the movies did not appear in my download basket until I signed back on. So after many tries, I finally went to my c/program files/graboid and deleted the new one, and in add remove programs deleted again, finally I reinstalled the old version and everything works again.

I had nothing but trouble with the old Graboid. Uninstalled and installed the new updated version. That worked fine for about four days. Suddenly when i try to download I have the same problem as those listed above; I get a message saying the download is being loaded to the queue but nothing ever happens. It never shows up in Downloads, etc. I tried uninstalling, reinstalling, deleting Graboid Temp file, everything. Finally wrote to Graboid and they said new version was having problems with Vista, which I run, and to go back to old version. I just did that following a complete uninstall of new version and reboot. The same thing happens when I try to download. Nothing. I am just sick. I can view TV shows and I suppose movies. Have not tried. But no downloads! I sure hope something gets resolved. I have found nothing else like Graboid and when it works its great!!!!
