Excuse me, but did anyone happen to notice any advertising for this movie “Juno”? I see a LOT of movies - used to work at a movie theatre when I was in college, so got free passes and developed a lifetime high tolerance for bad film. Since I see a lot of movies, I see a lot of trailers, and this one never showed up, not once. I never saw a billboard, a TV spot, or a Juno poster. And yet, here I was in this, the largest theatre of theatres at the local multiplex and it was packed. Since when do you see a movie that’s packed and it isn’t opening weekend? Well thankfully, it’s not never.

Juno’s one of those movies that is just good, damn good. It’s not for everyone - it even broke my regular rule about never seeing a movie that was highly rated by critics - but good. And lots of people seeing it, with no advertising. I guess that strengthens one of my other rules, that the more advertising you see for a movie, the worse it is. Although National Treasure, Book of Secrets kind of defied that one too. Not that it was great - but my god, the number of trailers, posters, TV spots and billboards made Romney’s pitch for Iowa look like a campaign for sheriff in wheretheyheckamiville, Utah.
