It’s always a hard decision on when to put the version 1.0 seal of approval on commercial software, but we just did it. Graboid 1.0 is now available on our website. It is more stable and easier to use than previous versions, but if you’re using 0.95 (the beta) and are fine with it, then there is no need to upgrade. Version 1.0 removes the capability to stream files > 1GB so if you use that functionality a lot, definitely don’t upgrade unless we force you to. That said, both versions can co-exist on your PC quite nicely, so you can install 1.0, see if you like it, and use 0.95 instead whenever you prefer that.
Just one HUGE caveat – do not set your file destination folders for the two versions to the same locations, or they WILL interfere with each other.

Thanks for the confirmation of the destination folders conflicting…I was about to play around with that today and see what happened…now I can just watch videos!!!
when i downloaded the new graboid it said that the vlc player had a problem & to contact the vendor please could you help me with this please
i just donwload graboid and it let me in but it say runtime error evertime i try to download
I am having the same problem with the runtime error but mostly when I click on the “more info” button. How can we fix this since it shuts down the application? Also getting lots of pop ups stating that mozilla is running slow. I tried the suggestions about deleting the apps under local settings and all that did was make it so that the execution file would not start up.
ter,
We’re working on this right now. An update should be issued shortly which will correct this.
I tried the new beta version 1.0 of Graboid and it downloads fine but it won’t play any movies. I’m sure you have heard this saying from your mother. If it’s not broke then leave it alone.
I like the old version. It played the movies and it worked. I really don’t care if it’s pretty. I’d rather have a old car with no paint that runs than a brand new car that won’t even start.
I guess you didn’t like the comment I posted about if it isn’t broke then leave it alone. I deleted it off my computer. I’m sure because of all the problems you will lose more customers. There is too much juke you have to download just to watch a movie. The old version is simple and you only have to download one program.
Thanks for your efforts.
David
I’ve been using Graboid almost since you first came out… Great Service, and Great improvements over the time.
I’m using the beta 0.95 AND 1.0 on same computer, and I find myself using the old beta 0.95 more and more.
There are some great improvements in 1.0, but I feel overall there is a step back that was taken. Here are some of the features I think could be improved:
1. Don’t limit streaming of >1GB files. Maybe if it is greater than 2GB, but 1GB is very streamable and I use it very often. There is something to be said about instant gratification in your online media resource. I don’t want to wait to download and then watch.
2. In application streaming of video is great, BUT – it limits the user’s functionality. Previously, the streaming was in a different window – and I was able to toggle back and forth while watching one thing and finding something else – it allowed me to search for other videos while watching others. Additionally, a rewind button would be great too.
3. There seem to be a lot of files for some reason that won’t stream on new version – but will stream on old (even 200MB files).
4. ** Probably one of the biggest reasons I still use the old version – it made movie browsing easier. Many times I know I want to watch some movie, but I don’t know what – in fact this is MOST of the time. In the previous version, you had a bottom window view of the IMDB, etc. that allowed me to quickly “see” if this is a movie I want to watch. This function now is at least 2 clicks deep in the new version. I don’t think the old way was perfect, but the new way is a step back. I would think there has to be a way to integrate a brief synopsis from IMDB directly in the new application so when you click on the video, it shows the synopsis right there.
Overall the improvements I like in the new version:
1. Ability to download more than one file – I like to download one and stream another at same time.
2. Better UI
3. Pagination of search results (in previous version, if you didn’t see it in first 50 or so results, you had to search differently for fine tuned results)
4. Downloaded movie processing – this seems to be much faster than previous version.
I hope this comment will help in improving the software further.
Feel free to contact me on my email if you’d like to discuss more.
I’m having a problem with runtime error! It’s always appeared and closing the application. “Runtime error! …. R6025 – pure virtual function call” how to solve the problem?
Tq very much.
Azry
There is a patch for the runtime error problem.
Ryan has a post aout this in the forum under 1.0 tech support, a few have confirmed the patch working already.
David,
I have to disagree about graboid losing customers…just looking in the forum and seeing how many new people are posting things confims that graboid is very much on the rise. Also, you like metaphors so here is one…I would rather plant seeds and grow the food myself if the taste is that much better. Same with graboid…so the install takes 5 minutes more….would you use an OS that only only took 2 minutes to load? Windows can take a few hours. Once the program has been installed, it runs at the same speed as the others. I just think you are being hasty. So you had a problem…tough it out and the end result will be an awesome program that you had before your friends…every company goes through its beta and bugs stage. But these guys are bright and determined to give us a program that literally makes other methods look like a frozen dinner next to steak. And here is my metaphor again, I would rather take the time to make that steak then be eating crappy food within a minute.
I don’t know how to post my own blog but I have a question so I am commenting this one in the hopes I may be answered! I was wondering if there are any hidden fees or anything? If I download this am I going to get a bill? I usually get info on these sites from those I know who have been on them but I don’t happen to know anyone on this site! I am sure you can see my problem, so if you could be so kind as to tell me I would be greatly appreciative. Many thanks, Leia.

It was a sad day today. All of my Beta Graboid programs ceased to work. Let me crawl way out on a limb here and say that the 1.0 version is nice looking. Other than that i don’t like it period. First I could only get it to load on one of my 5 computers. It takes forever to open, it is slower than snails when going between video titles and other screens, I don’t like the fact that it only shows 100 videos at a time and you have to go to previous or next to see others, it doesn’t show % of completion at the bottom of the screen anymore, It hangs up, it seems so crammed together I get claustraphobic. It is living proof that more is not always better. It is so slow and cumbersome at navigating that I might as well go search UseNet for the videos I want. You took a great program and messed it up. Can I just get a working beta program back?
Please don’t put information on work-arounds in rebuttal. I just don’t like this program and then there is the fact i can’t even get it to download on my other 4 computers.
Geez if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.
[moderator: you can download the old 0.95 version in the software updates forum in our support forums.]
I have to agree with hkinsey3. I never deleted the old version of Graboid and have gone back to it almost totally. Yes, the new version is very pretty. It looks really slick, but there are several things that I really don’t like. It’s harder to locate videos on this one. You have to set your number of videos per screen to the max and even then it’s really inconvenient to scroll through one screen, hit the next button, scroll through another screen, hit the next button. I can zip through hundreds of videos in minutes using the old version. My biggest pet peeve, however, is not being able to see where I am in the video. The slider at the bottom no longer shows. I went back to using VLC outside the program instead of inside so I could see the slider. Kind of defeats the purpose, eh?
I’m not going anywhere, though. Graboid is still the only game in town when downloading video content. It’s a great service at a great price. I’ll just keep using .95.
M
Moderator, we would still use and dl the beta .95 but at the moment (along with everything else going wrong in the upgrade) we are not able to sign on with them. I have to admit that I am also unsure as to whether or not it will ever work again. I hope it does, I really do.
[moderator: with every new thing, there is always a sorting-out period and we're hoping we're past ours. Speed of access has been restored on our servers, which fixes the access problems with versions 0.95 and 1.0]
