Periodically the issue comes up of how to watch videos from Graboid on your TV. Some of the popular suggestions are using a 20 foot VGA cable out of your PC, burning to dvd, or just using your PC as a media centre.
Personally, I use an AppleTV. I download to my PC, use Videora to convert to Apple-compatible mp4, and then it streams from my PC via wifi to my AppleTV to my TV. Once I get it into iTunes on my PC it’s pretty slick. I wish I could skip the step of having to convert to mp4 though.
So what solutions have people found out there for watching on their TV. Or does everyone watch on their computer screens?

I use an xbox 360 as it can play DivX and XviD without any conversions
If Needed I convert it to AVI then I put it into a Sansa Take TV then I can show it on my TV or burn it into a DVD Recorder
Ati ,all in wonder , and a lcd tv. You can buy ati any good shop used and new !
even my old nvidia video card goes out s video to a tv
I use the Popcorn Hour A100. There’s no conversion necessary, plus it supports all the HD formats in resolutions up to 1080p. It has a fairly slick UI like the AppleTV, but sadly no built-in WiFi, so you’ve got to buy a separate card or stick to ethernet cables (which I prefer anyways for their faster transfer speeds).
If I have a DVD burner is there a way to download the videos there, strictly for personal use? Any ideas?
I USE PS3, YOU CAN HOOK UP A NETWORK WITH YOUR PS3 TO YOUR COMPUTER AND PLAY MOVIES THRU THE PS3 FROM GRABOID.
i use a ice hard drive media player plays almost any media format and connects up using a hdmi cable , just drag and drop onto hard drive then watch on tv easy
i save movies to realplayer then burn to cd transfer to laptop svideo out to 65 inch hitachi ultravision and KABLAM! well…not the easiest way.so i’m gonna use my wi-fi net when i get inspired.
I am lucky enough to have a hdmi connection on my pc and just plug and play on my tv. Though i am still trying to figure out how to burn to a dvd let me know how if you know. Thanks Rob
I used to send the file to my memory stick, and then play it through our Playstation 3. But we just recently hooked an ethernet cable from the computer to the PS3, and set it up to access our download files. So it just plays through the tv that way. To play HD files though you better have a pretty scookum graphics card and a speedier computer, or it will tend to skip and stall. Regular quaility video a basic computer will keep up with it no problem. The PS3 is the ulimate home media server, and with Graboid woking as well as it does, I have cancelled cable, and havn’t rented a movie in months. Yee ha.!!!
use an xbox 360 as it can play DivX and XviD without any conversions
I run a S-VIDEO Cable from my HP Computer’s video card output,to the S-VIDEO Input in the back of my big screen TV. thats how i watch.
I also use an xbox 360 to stream straight over an ethernet cable from my pc. There is no need for a video conversion and the 360 is a fast, reliable, and feature filled streaming video player. Another option is to buy yourself a divx compatible dvd player. They are dirt cheap now (A friend of mine picked one up for $65 australian retail) and most have a usb port on the front so you dont even have to waste disks if you have at least a 1gb thumbdrive. Alternatively you can use a video converter/editor such as nero vision to convert to MPEG and burn to DVD. Nero vision even allows you to create your own menu’s for that professional look!
I use VGA cable from a mini pc (really great) hooked up to a 47″ HDTV & can also if needed burn a dvd from the pc & play that on a upconvert divx player on the same tv thru HDMI
I put it onto a cd
I run a S-VIDEO Cable from my Nvidia card to Phono on TV but not sure what else i have to do because i cant get nothing on TV. Any ideas????????????????????
I think I might be the only person who watches it on the computer. I watch on my pc as soon as it finishes downloading. Its more comfortable for me that way. I don’t burn anything because its not anything I really want to keep just things I want to see, so its nifty.
i use a 360, but i had to stop with the media center thing. It was so SLOW! the regular streaming is much better
i instaled my vcr to my video out on my putter and play the tape on the tube. dont give up on the vc!r
I have been converting and watching movies from download sources for sometime now and been using the greeat graboid for about a year. I have always used convertxtodvd it cost a little bit but well worth it I am a very satisfied customer. convertx can do it all it converts about any format… for iso files use dvd decrypter works wonders ~peace~
I purchased a 32in LCD HDTV by Toshiba that has hdmi connections and has a vga connection. I connected my computer to it and now I have a large computer screen and a tv in one. I barely use it as a tv. Since I work nights when most tv shows come on, I just download stuff to my 500 GB harddrive and then watch it when it is convient
I just download the movie and then convert it with convertxtodvd , and it converts the movie to dvd format and then i just burn it to a dvd, and it works great on my dvd player.
I saw what Ronnie said and “I purchased a 32in LCD HDTV by Toshiba that has hdmi connections and has a vga connection. I connected my computer to it and now I have a large computer screen and a tv in one”. You are the best. I never think before at this option. I know that they are extra money but it worth it. Once again man, you are the best. This ideea was fantastic for me, the best ideea for watching Graboid movies. Thanks.
i use a programme called dvd flick which burns to dvd format very easy to use [for my own use of course]
WESTERN DIGITAL HAS COME OUT WITH A PLAYER THAT YOU CAN PLUG IN TO USB FROM A PORTABLE HARD DRIVE AND CONNECT TO TV DIRECT WITHOUT C0NVERTING FILES AND IT COSTS 129.00
I Love DVD FLICK!!! I have bought several other software packages and have abandoned them all for this free download package. It’s easy to use, quick and quite self explanatory in use. I Love it!
i have a pinnicle studio which is in my network at home
so all i download i can watch on my 50 inch tv in living room
its great
I use the 360, i had problems streaming the video to the xbox but when i use a 4gb usb drive it works fine, but make sure you have the optional media update.
oh and please do not post in capitals it doesn’t make you look cool.
I use a Pioneer upconverting DVD player that plays Divx and AVI formats without conversion. I just burn the files as they are to disk and they play beautifully. The DVD player shows a menu with the various files and I pick the one I want to play. It is the easiest way I have found yet. The best part is I got the player on sale for about $65.
After a few days with the free membership, I just paid for the Diamond membership tonight — EASILY worth it. My first HD movie just completed downloading half an hour ago, and is currently completing “processing,” which seems to take almost as long as the download (Graboid REALLY pushes my 10 Mbps Cable connection a little PAST its upper limit, which just THRILLS me!)… The first HD movie is “Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull,” which I haven’t seen before, so I’m looking forward to how it looks onscreen.
I’m just A BIT disappointed that all HD movies are limited to 720P, but considering that 1080 CUBES the amount of information, I guess that would also CUBE the file sizes, so my one-hour download time for this movie would be 4 hours, instead, and I’m used to just 720P on cable.
Both my two HD sets are 720P, BUT my computer monitor is a 24″ HP W2408h, with a “normal” resolution of 1920 x 1200 and my normal input for it is HDMI (although my nVidia 9800 card has only DVI output, so I have to use a converter cord that’s DVI at one end and HDMI at the other)…
At any rate, this monitor is both BIG ENOUGH and certainly high-quality enough to DEFINITELY suit my viewing needs for now. I may burn some of the better stuff for future reference. I just bought the LG Blu-Ray burner Circuit City had on sale for $200 ($80 off — and they’re the ONLY ONES who carry it)… Great burner and player, which fit nicely in my free slot on my Dell XPS 410… Will burn all Blu-Ray discs, plus all DVDs and CDs, and read any combination of the above, too…
I’m really just killing some time, here, while IJ and the CS finishes processing. So far, I’m REALLY pleasantly surprised by Graboid… Netflix has been doing its BEST to get me to accept “a free month” for YEARS, with no success, but after just two days using up my free 4 GB on Graboid — and seeing just how MUCH MORE I could get in a month for $30, I WAS SOLD!
Jeff
i use power2go to burn and convert takes about 1 hour to convert and burn a dvd all with 1 click and it is a free version has worked great for me.
Graboid is the best but sometime the movies are poor quality and theres no way of knowing till you have actually downloaded it…or is there??
To play on any divx compatible dvd….I bought mine for $70 ..works great….
just use nero to burn to data cd (takes 5 minutes for a movie, for 20c per disc) or dvd (you can get about 3-4 movies on a disc for the princely sum of about 30c!!
Converting takes way too long
