The full release of Graboid 2.0
Graboid 2.0 is launching next week and we want to share our enthusiasm and let you know about some of our favorite new features. We’ve added a collapsible sidebar on the right hand side that allows you to add filters to your search results as well as edit your saved searches. You can also now click on a ‘Save Search’ button next to the search bar that will automatically add the search to your ‘Saved Searches’ section. Stay tuned for more features with the official launch.
ISP throttling
Download speeds seem a little slower than usual?
A number of things can affect your download speed from Graboid: the health of your operating system, your internet connection, and whether your ISP (internet service provider) is interfering with your downloads. ISP interfering has become much more common and can cause slowdowns during peak traffic times (like after 5 p.m).
So what is Graboid doing to help?
We are working on changing the nature of the connection from Graboid to the file locations to prevent ISPs from throttling your video downloads. We are currently running tests with select customers, and hope to have the changes available to everyone within the next few weeks.
Q:I have my language preferences set to the U.S. flag (English), but lately I’ve noticed a large number of files show a question mark in the flag column. Since “?” is not a flag option in my preferences, these files get shown to me regardless. This is a bit annoying and I would like to request a sort function for flags and/or a “?” option when choosing flags in my preferences. Is that possible?
– Nigel H.
A:Thanks for the question Nigel! The country flags you see in the video file information indicate the language used in the video. For example, a U.S. flag means the video is in English. Although it’s important to note that it could be from any English-speaking country. Graboid 2.0 clarifies this a bit more by listing the language next to the flags in the Language preferences. The question mark you are seeing – or you might see a dash in 2.0 – means the language unfortunately is unspecified and we just don’t know. The majority of videos on Graboid are in English, so even if the language is showing as “?”, chances are pretty good it’s in English. Graboid 2.0 will be introducing a tagging system, so that our users will be able to help label videos with vital information, such as the language.
How can I update my personal information, such as my email address?
You can always update your information by logging into the application and clicking on the Account tab. Plus, when the new website launches next week, you’ll be able to log in to your account directly from the website login located in the top right hand corner of every page.
Either way you log in, just click the ‘Change Password/Edit Profile’ link under ‘Useful Links’. A new page will open, allowing you to edit your personal information. Enter your changes, click ‘Save Profile’, and you’re done.
How can I renew my account early?
If you’ve used up your current month’s bandwidth, you might want to renew your account early so you don’t have to wait to get more videos. Log into the Graboid application and click the ‘Account’ tab. A web browser window will open with your membership information. Under ‘Upgrade Subscription’, select the ‘renew early’ option for your current subscription from the ‘Membership Type’ drop down. Click ‘upgrade’, and then follow the remaining steps.
If you do not see your current subscription listed in the drop down, please contact Customer Service at 1-877-460-0722, between 12-8p.m. EST, 7 days a week or email us and one of our representatives can make the option available for you.
